Walking in Northamptonshire

Time to get walking again!

With Spring on its way we start to think about getting out to walk in the beautiful English Countryside again, but where to find new and interesting walks?

Walking in Northamptonshire https://www.walkinginengland.co.uk/northants has loads of walks to download and print, free, it also has books of walks, details of all the walking groups in the county and much more. Whether you want to walk on your own or with a group all the information is there in one place.

John Harris (who maintains the website) said ‘There is so much walking information on the web but it is difficult to find. Walking in Northamptonshire (part of the Walking in England website) has brought it together in one place so whether you are walking from home, or away on holiday, you will be able to find a walk suitable for you’.

With walks from half a mile to twelve miles plus long, and a note of suitability for pushchairs and wheelchairs, everyone can find a walk to enjoy.

So home or away, check out the websites and get walking!

Night-time road closures of Sulgrave Road and Welsh Lane in early December – HS2

In early December, HS2 contractors will be carrying out a series of topographical surveys along the B4525 Welsh Lane and Sulgrave Road.

A section of Sulgrave Road will be closed overnight, 8.00pm to 6.00am, from Thursday 1st December to Tuesday 6 December 2022.

A section of the B4525 Welsh Lane near Greatworth will be fully closed in both directions overnight from 8.00pm to 6.00am, from Monday 5 December to Tuesday 13 December 2022.

Partial lane closures will also be in place on the B4525 at the junctions with the A43 near Brackley and A422 near Banbury, overnight from 8.00pm to 6.00am, from Monday 5 December to Tuesday 13 December 2022.

The wider partial closure area, will involve a ‘Road Closed’ sign and barrier across part of the road, at the A43 and A422 junctions with the B4525. This is to reduce the flow of non-local traffic on the B4525, which is often from either Banbury or Towcester areas, reaching the full closure zone near Greatworth and needing to divert along narrow village roads.

Traffic travelling in either direction along other sections of the B4525 will not be affected and access to the B4525 from all side roads will be available.
