See below correspondence between our Parish Council Chairman, Keith Simmons and Anglian Water regarding the water outage in May 2026.

Please note that there has been no formal communication regarding this matter sent to the council.

Nearly 3 months in and still no sign of our due compensation

Dear Andrew (Anglian Water)

Water Outage 25th to 27th May Re: Follow up on call Tue 14 May – which actually took place on the 14 July!

I have received some very disappointing news – I understand via another resident who has received a message from your customer care team that the revisited post incident review has been delayed until  mid August.

This is disappointing on so many levels :-

1) Another delay from Anglian Water in meeting its obligations to pay compensation.

2.) That no one bothered to inform me as Parish Council Chairman and as attendee of the forum hosted by our MP Stuart Andrew that this delay had occurred.  Are the other attendees from Anglian Water aware of this further delay?

3.) The lack of communication to the residents of Eydon who are your paying customers – a real lack of respect in my view. I asked who would communicate the revisited review to your customers at least twice and no one has. The Company has a publicity department, surely this is their job – communicating to Customers!

The confidence of our residents in Anglian Water to do what is right and treat customers with respect is sinking even lower, if that is possible.

In the light of the further delay I am as Chairman of Eydon Parish Council formally requesting a copy of the District Metered Area (DMA) Asset  Map of Eydon.

Please identify the locations of the Critical Pressure Points (CPPs) and any mobile/fixed pressure data loggers which were active between 25–27 May 2026.

This information will assist the residents of Eydon to make a judgement on the merits of the outcome of the revisited review.

It will also be helpful to know how the decision not to pay compensation in the first instance was arrived at, who made the decision, what the process was and again why it was not published.

I will be copying this email to our MP and other interested parties.

Dear Keith

Thank you for taking the time last week to discuss the water supply interruption that affected customers between 26 and 27 May and to review the next steps following the event.

As discussed, the interruption was caused by a failure of the pumping assets that transfer water from the service reservoir into the distribution network. This affected supplies to Lower and Upper Boddington, Aston le Walls, Chipping Warden, Eydon, Moreton Pinkney and Thorpe Mandeville.

The duration of the outage was extended due to an additional fault affecting the control and automation systems that operate the pumps. Specialist resources were required to diagnose and resolve the issue. Water supplies were restored to the affected area by 13:30 on 27 May, with storage and network levels in the higher areas of Upper Boddington, Eydon and Thorpe Mandeville fully replenished by approximately 15:30.

Since the incident, we have reviewed our response and implemented a number of improvements based on the lessons identified. This specifically addresses the delay experienced in the Chipping Warden area.

I confirmed a post-incident assessment verification had already been completed, however I’ve requested that this is revisited to provide further assurance that all relevant considerations have been fully assessed.

Given the significant operational demands associated with the three heatwave events experienced so far this year, we expect this work to be concluded around late July.

As agreed, we will arrange a follow-up call in approximately two weeks’ time to provide an update on the outcome of this review and answer any further questions you may have.
