Urgent Update – Anglian Water Compensation for Lack of Water 25 -27 May

Update from the Parish Council Chairman Keith Simmons.

I have received the email below –

It’s good news in that compensation will be paid.

However it leaves many questions still –

Who will receive it ? How much will it be ?

At least one resident who was pursuing the matter has informed me they are to receive £90 £50 compensation for a 12 hour outage and £40 late payment award. Residents who are to receive payment will be notified by the end of August.

Why was it originally decided no one would receive any compensation?

I have a scheduled online meeting with Anglian on the 14 August and will be asking for answers.

The Parish Council does not meet in August and will only be discussing the ‘Goodwill’ gesture in September in any case.

The Parish Council will welcome your comments on this development.

Parish Council Chairman.

Dear Keith,

I wanted to provide an update regarding the Thorpe Lodge incident which affected customer water supplies in Eydon over the late May bank holiday period.

As you know, since the incident, we have continued a comprehensive programme of assurance and validation to ensure that the impacts of this complex event have been fully understood and that compensation has been applied accurately and fairly. This work has involved detailed review and verification activities and the application of a robust and fully auditable process to confirm customer eligibility under our Guaranteed Standards Scheme (GSS).

As part of this process, we undertook further modelling and verification of the interruption to supply. Following this detailed assessment, we can confirm that the compensation assessment for customers affected by the Thorpe Lodge incident has been finalised and there has been an increase in the number of customers who qualify for GSS compensation. Payments to those customers newly identified as eligible will be issued over the coming days.

We appreciate the patience shown by customers while this work was undertaken and in light of this, would also like to make a community goodwill payment of £2,000 to Eydon Parish Council.

I hope this update is helpful and will be in touch again to take forward arrangements for making the goodwill payment. We can, of course, also answer any questions you might have at the follow-up meeting on 14th August.

Kind regards,

Linda
